Happy Easter :)
We had a great Easter in the Glas house this year. Lindy got here Saturday evening, then we all met Kellye and my parents in Grand Junction for church on Sunday morning. We had a nice, simple lunch and just relaxed and talked all afternoon. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera - but we did take a few pictures before leaving our house that morning...

Presidents Day Project
The Book Meme
Karla at Ainsley's Mom tagged me for a Book Meme. I've never done this before, so we'll see if I do it right!
"Many schools, public and private, tend to treat the fine arts as extracurricular or (even worse!) as "specials."
The implication is that these exist outside of the normal core of the formal curriculum.
On the contrary, it is particularly fitting that the Christian school expose students both to the study and creation of art."
Ok, I don't really know 5 other people who blog well enough to tag them, so I'm going to have to tag 3 people :) I tag -
Kellye
Christy
Jennifer
Here are the rules:
- Pick up the nearest book of at least 123 pages.
- Open the book to page 123.
- Find the 5th sentence.
- Post the next 3 sentences.
- Tag 5 people.

Happy Valentines Day!
We had a great Valentine's Day in the Glas house this year! We surprised the kids with McDonald's for breakfast (nutritious, I know). Jack chose to eat his in bed, but Sam being the more anal one wasn't crazy about the idea of getting crumbs in her bed :)

The kids and I made strawberry cupcakes, and they were lovely on our new cupcake stand!

My parents came over for dinner, and I made heart shaped pizzas for everyone! One vegetable - with red bell peppers, green bell peppers, garlic, onion, chopped black olives and mushrooms. The other half cheese/half sausage and mushroom. Both were 100% organic and whole grain - and of course, delicious!

Pizza Dough Recipe - This is super simple and delicious. Plus, the exact same recipe can be used for baking bread!
4 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups warm water
1 envelope yeast
2 T honey
2 T olive oil
1 tsp salt
Mix, kneed dough, then roll onto pizza pan! Voila, so easy you'll never order delivery again!
For bread - mix, kneed, let rise for an hour or so, then bake! When baking bread, I usually add about 3 T of Flax Seeds.

To prepare yourself, start studying Daddy's Rules for Dating.
Daddy's Rules for Dating
Your dad's rules for your boyfriend (or for you if you're a guy) :
Rule One:
If you pull into my driveway and honk you'd better be delivering a package, because you're sure not picking anything up.
Rule Two:
You do not touch my daughter in front of me. You may glance at her, so long as you do not peer at anything below her neck. If you cannot keep your eyes or hands off of my daughter's body, I will remove them..
Rule Three:
I am aware that it is considered fashionable for boys of your age to wear their trousers so loosely that they appear to be falling off their hips. Please don't take this as an insult, but you and all of you r friends are complete idiots. Still, I want to be fair and open minded about this issue, so I propose this compromise: You may come to the door with your underwear showing and your pants ten sizes too big, and I will not object. However, in order to ensure that your clothes do not, in fact come off during the course of your date with my daughter, I will take my electric nail gun and fasten your trousers securely in place to your waist.
Rule Four:
I'm sure you've been told that in today's world, sex without utilizing a 'Barrier method' of some kind can kill you. Let me elaborate, when it comes to sex, I am the barrier, and I will kill you.
Rule Five:
It is usually understood that in order for us to get to know each other, we should talk about sports, politics, and other issues of the day. Please do not do this. The only information I require from you is an indication of when you expect to have my daughter safely back at my house, and the only wor d I need from you on this subject is: 'early.'
Rule Six:
I have no doubt you are a popular fellow, with many opportunities to date other girls. This is fine with me as long as it is okay with my daughter. Otherwise, once you have gone out with my little girl, you will continue to date no one but her until she is finished with you. If you make her cry, I will make you cry.
Rule Seven:
As you stand in my front hallway, waiting for my daughter to appear, and more than an hour goes by, do not sigh and fidget. If you want to be on time for the movie, you should not be dating. My daughter is putting on her makeup, a process than can take longer than painting the Golden Gate Bridge . Instead of just standing there, why don't you do something useful, like changing the oil in my car?
Rule Eight:
The following places are not appropriate for a date with my daughter: Places where there are beds, sofas, or anything softer than a wooden stool Places where there is darkness. Places where there is dancing, holding hands, or happiness. Places where the ambient temperature is warm enough to induce my daughter to wear shorts, tank tops, midriff T-shirts, or anything other than overalls, a sweater, and a goose down parka - zipped up to her throat. Movies with a strong romantic or sexual themes are to be avoided; movies which feature chain saws are okay. Hockey games are okay. Old folks homes are better.
Rule Nine:
Do not lie to me. I may appear to be a potbellied, balding, middle-aged, dimwitted has-been. But on issues relating to my daughter, I am the all-knowing, merciless god of your universe. If I ask you where you are going and with whom, you have one chance to tell me the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I have a shotgun, a shovel, and five acres behind the house. Do not trifle with me.
Rule Ten:
Be afraid. Be very afraid. It takes very little for me to mistake the s ound of your car in the driveway for a chopper coming in over a rice paddy near Hanoi . When my Agent Orange starts acting up, the voices in my head frequently tell me to clean the guns as I wait for you to bring my daughter home. As soon as you pull into the driveway you should exit the car with both hands in plain sight. Speak the perimeter password, announce in a clear voice that you have brought my daughter home safely and early, then return to your car - there is no need for you to come inside. The camouflaged face at the window is mine.

Playing in our new tents!
Aunt Kellye got the kids an awesome set of 2 tents and a tunnel that connects them for their birthday! Daddy set it up in the school room for them, and he's excited that they are really good quality tents that can be used for camping outside! Mommy thinks she's going to have to move one tent into each of their rooms until their playroom is finished, cause it has taken over her classroom!!

My Babies Aren't Babies Anymore!!
Well, it happened. It came from out of nowhere, and I am still in shock. I always knew the time would eventually come, but was completely unprepared. My babies aren't babies anymore - they're kids! Samantha and Jackson both had birthdays in the last week. Sam turned 6. Jack turned 4. I'm so proud of the people they are becoming, and so blessed to be their mom.

Trick or Treat!!
Sam and Jack had a great Halloween! This was their first year to go trick or treating, and they loved it! First they went to FedEx with daddy and trick or treating at all the offices. There were kids all over the place! I'm thinking not much work was accomplished! Then, after dinner, we walked around the cove and back. They had so much fun seeing all of their friends from the neighborhood all dressed up! I was pleased to see that the trick or treaters were all young children, and there we NO scary costumes. In our old neighborhood, lots of teenage trick or trickers and scary costumes were part of the reason we never took them out on Halloween.

Sam's First Day of School!!
Sam had a great first day of Kindergarten. She worked hard, and didn't want to stop! Her favorite is Math time, she loves to work with numbers just like her daddy. She really enjoys reading/phonics, too, mostly because she is a show-off and loves that I am flipping out over how much reading she can already do:) We have lots of fun things planned for the next few months, and I'm very excited. Here are a few pictures from outr first day...

Matching the Spanish word to the English word. Every time they find a match, they have to say the words in English and in Spanish. This is technically a Memory game, but Jack hates Memory because Sam always wins. So, when he plays we just make it a matching game:)

It's Always a Party When Aunt Kellye Visits
Kellye spent the night last weekend, and we had a great time. As you can see, the kids have a blast when she's here, and always hang all over her...

Jackson - what long legs you have!!
LOL, Samantha is so tall that this probably would have been funnier if we'd used Daddy's legs...Sam will probably be as tall as aunt Kellye by the time she's 10!

Getting Settled in Oakland
Well, we're still walking around the house in a daze! We have been so blessed beyond our imagination, and we find ourselves thanking God every time we walk from one room to another! Getting here has been a roller coaster ride for us, but we're so thankful for it. God has proven again and again that He is in control, and our faith has been strengthened. It is exciting to think of the plans He must have for us here, and the ways He plans to use us in this new phase of our lives together.
I'll post some more pictures of the house soon!
